Seismic Performance Evaluation of Highway Bridges under Scour and Chloride Ion Corrosion

نویسندگان

چکیده

Cross-river bridges located in seismically active areas are exposed to two major natural hazards, namely earthquakes and flooding. As the scour depth increases, more parts of bridge substructure will inevitably be unfavorable conditions such as chloride ion (Cl−) corrosion. To investigate seismic performance highway under action Cl− corrosion, a spatial finite element dynamic model continuous rigid was established Cl−-accelerated electrochemical corrosion test quasi-static were carried out. The results showed that reasonable combination sub-factors joint probability density can obtained establish combined expression effect. cause reduction displacement ductility, load-bearing, energy dissipation capacity, increase inequivalent viscous damping coefficient columns. Seismic damage columns grows linearly twice ultimate which becomes significant with reinforcement ratio.

Probabilistic Evaluation of Seismic Performance of RC Bridges in Iran

Many existing bridges were designed without adequate consideration of seismic risk. The full or partial collapse of even one major bridge in a city or community would have destroying results. There has been focuses on developing fragility-based seismic vulnerability of existing usual bridges in Iran or support decision making on seismic upgrade. This article focuses on developing performance b...

Structural Seismic Performance Evaluation of Highway Bridges Based on Vibration Measurements

This paper represents the first effort in seismic fragility analysis of a structure using a structural analysis model developed on the basis of measured vibration data. An instrumented highway bridge is used to demonstrate the analysis procedure involving measuring ambient vibration, identifying modal parameters from the measured data, updating a preliminary FE model (obtained from structural d...

Performance based seismic assessment of bridges designed according to Canadian Highway Bridge Design Code

Recent research efforts have focused on the development of performance based seismic design methodologies for structures. However, the seismic design rules prescribed in the current Canadian Highway Bridge Design Code (CHBDC) is based largely on force based design principles. Although a set of performance requirements (performance objectives) for different return period earthquake events have b...

A methodology for Determining the Seismic Vulnerability of Old Concrete Highway Bridges by Using Fragility Curves

Past earthquakes have demonstrated that old RC bridges may be seismically vulnerable. Bridge responses during the last decades illustrated the necessity of the seismic assessment of bridges especially those which were designed with old codes. In this research an existing concrete bridge representative of the most common bridges in the highway system in Iran are studied. Push over and nonlinear ...

Seismic Performance of seat-type bridges with elastomeric bearings

In Iran and some other countries, elastomer bearings in seat-type bridges are used with no sole/masonry plates and there is no positive connection between superstructure and substructure. Different codes have diverse provisions regarding the coefficient of friction (μ) between elastomer bearing and superstructure/substructure and also the design strength of shear keys (Vsk). Developing a finite...
